What is speed dating?

Speed dating is a fun way to get to know more people. The idea is that all participants get 3 minutes to interact with each other.

How does it work?

Each participant will get three minutes to talk to each person in the room. Once the 3 minutes with one person are up,  you move to the next participant. In this way we will make sure that you get to interact with all the people in the room. Each person will have a name tag, and if you like someone and would like to get to know them more, just note down the name of the person. At the end of the event, you can give us your number and the names of the people you would like to interact with.

I am in a relationship. Can I still come?

Yes! This event is for everyone! Feel free to come with your partner but make sure both you and your partner are open to meeting new people. The idea behind speed dating is not only getting ‘dates’ but also meeting new people/friends. This is a new way of making friends. You might get a BFF in this event!

Will I get a date/ find a girlfriend?

This event is an opportunity for people to talk to each other.  After the event, each participant will be given the phone numbers of people who are interested in talking more to them. You can then decide if you want to call them back or not. You can also decide if you want to get to know them as ‘just friends’ or not — it’s entirely up to you. Qashti does not take responsibility for finding you a girlfriend.

What if I go on a date and feel sexually harassed?

Qashti has a strong anti-sexual harassment policy which will apply at the speed dating event also. Please find it here.

I am shy and have trouble striking up conversations. How will I talk?

Don’t worry, we will have some questions for you to help get the conversation started!

This event is a fundraiser. What will the money raised be used for?

Please see our blog to see Qashti’s expenses.

Qashti is a non- funded collective. We want community support to help us run the events that we organize, set up an office space for Qashti and other expenses.

What will happen after speed dating?

After the event, we will all head to a pub nearby that serves free drinks to ‘women’ from 8 pm to 11 pm. Come, party, flirt, woo, dance anddrink the night away with fellow lesbian, bisexual and trans* people after speed dating!

HURRY! we are running out of seats! Register by confirming on FB or calling us on 9711282081.

Entry: Rs. 200 (or how much ever you want to give).
